Fenty Beauty Review- Match Stix Trio and Highlighter
Hello everyone!
I hope you are all doing well.
Today I am back with my second Fenty Beauty review out of three that I will be doing.
I will be reviewing the Match Stix Trio in Medium and the Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter Duo in Mean Money/Hu$tla Baby.
First, let's start off with the Match Stix Trio in Medium!
First, I would like to start off by saying that the Match Stix Trio is an excellent value for your money! The individual sticks retail for $25 each, so for $54 for three, you are essentially getting one for free. I highly recommend getting the trio. I even think on Riri's site you can customize the three sticks yourself.
For $54 USD you get 2 x 0.25 oz (Matte Skinstick) and 0.25 (Shimmer Skinstick)
I hope you are all doing well.

Packaging
I love the black and grey edgy packaging Riri has for the line. To be honest, this is probably the least intriguing aspect of reviewing a product since it usually goes into the trash pretty fast (who keeps makeup like that?). I have to say, I ADORE how all of the sticks are magnetic. The nude monochromatic theme of the whole line is extremely luxe and classic looking. I have to say, it is pretty fun and convenient to have your sticks stick....literally.
I adore the packaging and I think it is very unique that she added magnetism to her products. The sticks are not easily lost this way and it is aesthetically pleasing!

Shade & Color
Match Stix Trio in Medium
Since I am shade 250, I fell into the medium shade range. To be completely honest, I am not the biggest fan of contour sticks or products. I usually just put bronzer on to warm up the face. I have found that contour sticks/creams are usually really oily on the skin and can look cakey on top of my foundations. I have used products that are too cool or too warm which result in the skin looking too orange or grey. Having very strong yellow undertones, anything that is not perfectly in the middle will look horrible (the reason I usually steer away from contour products).
For this particular product, I was pleasantly surprised that the contour color basically MELTED into the skin when blended out and resulted in *gasp* fake perfect cheekbones and a slimmer face. I cannot tell you how amazed I was at this. The highlight shade (matte stick bamboo) was light enough to brighten the face without looking too washed out. The contour shade....the contour shade is amazing!!!! It is the perfect shade for anyone who has medium-golden skin. It was PERFECT. I was shocked at how natural it looked on the skin. The shade Trippin is absolutely gorgeous. It is a cream to powder shimmer highlighter and I like to apply it between the apples of my cheeks and the high points of my cheekbones for a rosy glow. I also have loved using all over the lid for a subtle shimmer.
I want to mention that these ARE NOT FULL COVERAGE STICKS. I love these items, but I am not going to lie and say that the highlight shade will cover up a night of staying up and so forth. You will need to color correct or layer concealers. However, I think that's what makes this product the "your skin but better" look that Rihanna was going for. It makes your skin look sculpted without looking like you contoured and highlighted with a heavy concealer cream or foundation. I think that's why I have found that other products made me look cakey; the lightness of these sticks and the fact that they're not full coverage is what makes them so easy and fast to use. They are light to medium coverage and you can certaintly build it up. It will not get cakey. Below is a swatch of all the shades
From Left to Right: Bamboo, Mocha, Trippin
Final Verdict
Ever since I got these sticks, I have used them every time I have worn makeup. They are so easy to use and blend out, and since they're not full coverage they are perfect for a day time sculpted and glowy look. For night time, I usually add another layer of the contour shade for more definition and so forth.
If I had to pick one item to get if you don't want to get the trio, I highly recommend getting the contour shade. It is such an easy and natural looking product to use. They come in so many shades- and they have the perfect contour shade for every skintone. The sticks are pretty thick in size, so I think that these will last me a long time. I love these and I honestly believe they are very much worth the price!
NOW ON TO THE HIGHLIGHTER!
Packaging:
This highlighter has the same outer packaging as the other products. The product itself has a beautiful white chrome effect- almost glows other colors pictured below.
You have to put a bit of pressure on the opening-but I appreciate this because it protects the product from breaking if it falls.
I also really love how it includes a mirror!
Price & Value:
The highlighter duo is $34 USD for 2 x 0.12 oz/3.5 g. This means that in total, the total weight of both highlighters amounts to 0.24 oz.
In comparison, my Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter is $38 USD for 0.28z. This is extremely similar and sits in at an appropriate price range for a Sephora brand highlighter.
Color & Glow Level:
I have been using Jaclyn Hill's Champagne Pop ever since it came out and I thought I'd never look back. To be honest, I have not tried any highlighters except drugstore ones just to try out. I would swatch highlighters at Sephora and I was convinced nothing can compare to Champagne Pop.
That is until I found my new HOLY GRAIL HIGHLIGHTER. I got the Killawat Highlighter Duo in Mean Money/Hu$tla Baby and ever since I first tried it on I fell in love.
I always felt Champagne Pop was beautiful and creamy, however my only complaints with that highlighter was that it can sometimes emphasize texture and the shade sometimes looked too light for my complexion.
My skin has such strong olive-yellow undertones that when I wear highlighter, it needs to match the undertone very well. Too many times a highlighter is too metallic or light, resulting in a silver stripe appearance on my cheek. I noticed this with Champagne Pop but compared to other highlighters, it was the best.
However, this highlighter duo is AMAZING for my skintone. Hu$tla Baby is more golden in comparison and although still creamy, it doesn't emphasize as much texture as Champagne Pop. I really love how she included Mean Money since it is a lighter glow and has less shimmer. I like to apply this first on the inner cheeks then at the very top of my cheekbones apply Hu$tla Baby. I find that this does the best job at making the highlight look as glowy as possible without emphasizing texture.

Final Verdict:
This is now my holygrail highlighter. If that isn't a final verdict...I don't know what is. I think the quality of these highlighters is phenomenal. I love how she included a side with a more subtle glow and then another side with more intensity. I think she did an excellent job at making everything in this line accessible to people who may be weary of using makeup and for the everyday girl. Many people do not like the thought of a super bright highlighter or a strong contour but she made these products easy to use and subtle. I love the simplicity of it. Both of these products last ALL DAY LONG on my skin.
I have honestly fallen in love. Everytime I do my makeup, I grab my Fenty foundation, sticks and highlighter without a doubt. I have invested in some of her tools as well, as well as her gloss bomb which I will cover in the next blog post.
I hope you enjoyed this and if you love anything from her line or thinking of trying it, comment below!
I hope you stay tuned for my next and last (not really) Fenty Beauty Review :).
Have a beautiful night!
