Fenty Beauty Review- Primer and Foundation
HELLO EVERYONE!
First and foremost, I apologize for the gap between posting. I have had a lot going in with my academic career and school. My goal moving forward is to have at least one post a week! I love blogging too much. I'm glad to be back!
Further to the point, today I am reviewing the amazingly talked about FENTY BEAUTY.
Since I went bat-s** crazy at Sephora, I am dividing the review by three parts: primer and foundation, match stix trio and highlighter and then last but not least: glossbomb and tools.
I truly think that so many of her products are unique and obtain great quality, so they deserve the time and attention of detailed reviews.
I have to be honest, when Rihanna first came out with this line I was ecstatic about the inclusivity of the foundation range. Honestly, even as an olive medium skinned girl I still had trouble finding my shade.
I have been to countless trips: back and forth from Sephora returning and buying foundations: looking perfect in the store lighting only to find that in natural lighting it was too grey, too pink, etc.
I cannot even imagine what my beautiful porcelain and brown girls go through!
For my product reviews, I really like to give it some time (a week to a few weeks) to really judge the product.
Before I give my honest opinions I really like to focus on how it sat with my skin, if it made me break out or not, or if I noticed anything different overtime.
Enough talking, let's get into the REVIEW:
Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Instant Retouch Primer- $34, 1.08 fl oz
Now, I have dry skin. After being on Accutane (it has been 6 years, I will make a blog post on it) my skin always remained on the dry side. However, I feel it is only fair to try the primer that comes with the foundation. Brands formulate their products to work well together, so I figured why not? I always moisturize my face well, makeup or no makeup.
The packaging is beautiful but minimal, with the nude color giving it a classic and luxurious feel. The bottle also has a pump, which is a huge plus.
The feeling of it is unlike anything I have tried. It is not siliconey, (such as the Smashbox Photofinish Primer) neither is it too liquidy. It felt like a moisturizing lotion that also felt like a primer. I did not notice a dramatic pore filling effect, but I love how it feels on my skin and I do notice the skin looks more even.
Fenty Beauty Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation- $34, 1.08 fl oz

FACE

If I'm being honest, this was the product I was most excited to try. The foundation has a runny texture, not too runny but also not thick at all. The color is PERFECT. When I mean perfect, I mean PERFECT. I was amazed. The foundation sets quickly, but to me this is a good thing. When it sets, it SETS. This means no foundation when you're hugging someone (embarrassing) but also it will stay put in the heat. I wore this in 80-90 degree weather and it still looked beautiful and fresh.
For shade reference, I am 250 Warm Peach. The closest foundation matches I have found in comparison is Estee Lauder Double Wear in 3W2 Cashew, Nars Sheerglow in Barcelona and Smashbox Skin Foundation in 2.4. For drugstore, I find that Wet N' Wild Golden Beige and Maybelline Fit Me in 228 are decent matches but not perfect. For a separate post, I will be talking about all of my foundations!
I did not find that this foundation looked dry on my skin. I use a very effective moisturizer for my skincare routine and treated this foundation just as if I was using any of my other products. When I washed my face off, it had been well over 12 hours since it was on and it still looked flawless. I can't tell you enough that a medium to full coverage foundation that matches me perfectly AND looks like skin is hard to come by. I love my Estee Lauder Double Wear, but let's face it, it is not the most natural looking.
After using it for weeks, I can officially say I'm in love with this foundation.
This hasn't broken me out, hasn't failed me in a hot sweaty club, and has been my go to since I got it. If you have dry skin, always prep with a good moisturizer. If you have oily skin, pair this with the blotting powder! Amazing foundation.
I think that if you had to choose just one product, go with the foundation. On days I feel my skin may be extra dry I prime with something that delivers moisture, such as Too Faced Hangover Primer or Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer Serum.
If you have tried any of the Fenty products, comment below and tell me which ones are your favorite!
There will be two more posts based on reviewing Fenty.
Stay tuned and thank you for reading! :)
